Research interests

Professor Mayer's research work is primarily in the area of precision engineering. Precision here refers to the dimensional and geometric characteristics of manufactured products. It requires the ability to make and measure the key characteristics on the parts and also to measure and act upon key process characteristics, those that directly impact the part quality. In other words, it is about making things accurately in a productive manner. It is also about making things always more accurate to meet the demand in various industries including the aeronautics, automotive, electronics, biomedical industries.
