Daniel Therriault is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal, Quebec, Canada and has a Canadian Research Chair in Fabrication of microsystems and advanced materials. He has obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering respectively, from Ecole Polytechnique and his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign, USA). His main research interests are the fabrication of micro/nano systems and advanced materials such as microfluidic devices, fuel cells and micro heat pipes. His patented microfabrication method based on the direct-write assembly of 3D microvascular networks was published in Nature Materials and Advanced Materials. He has received numerous awards and distinctions, such as the Roger Strehlow Memorial and the Carver Foundation awards from the University of Illinois for outstanding research and academic excellence.
