Frej Mighri is Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Laval University, Quebec, Canada. He was Head of the graduate studies program (2010-2014) and Head of polymer processing program (2005-2009). He has obtained his bachelor and master degrees in mechanical engineering from Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal (1987) and Sherbrooke University (1989), respectively. He worked during four years as senior engineer at CETIME, a Tunisian government organism, where he had set up in collaboration in collaboration with the United Nations the first Laboratory in the country for polymer characterization. Thereafter, he did his Ph.D. in Chemical engineering at Ecole Polytechnique of Montréal (finished in 1998). He worked during five years at the Industrial Materials Institute, IMI, National Research Council, Canada, NRCC, in the first time as a Postdoctoral trainee (NSERC fellowship) then as research associate and research officer.

Actual research interests

  • Structure- properties relationships of polymers and multiphase systems
  • Reactive extrusion and compatibilization of polymers
  • Rheology and processing of polymers and multiphase systems
  • Development of new formulations by mixing of highly filled polymers (dispersion of reinforcements, fillers, and additives by using twin-screw extrusion process)
  • Polymer characterization
  • Development of electronic conductive materials, from filled polymers, for application in fuel cells (conductivity/process optimization)

PEM Fuel cells, Conductive filled systems, Polymer rheology, Polymer systems compatibilization, Polymer nanocomposites
