Biography

Michel A Huneault is profesor at the Chemical and biotechnological engineering department of the University of Sherbrooke. He has been research officer at the National Research Council of Canada from 1992 to 2009 and adjunct Professor at Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal from 2003 to 2009. He has obtained his engineering degree from Laval University (1987) and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique (1992). He has carried out applied research on various aspects of polymer blending and processing technologies and has published over 60 journal papers in the area of dispersion visualization, polymer foams, electrically conductive composites, polymer electrolyte membranes, reactive modification of polymers and multilayer film extrusion. More recently, his efforts have shifted toward renewable materials, in particular on starch-based blends and polylactic acid. In this area, he has made a series of papers on the crystallization, foaming, molding and biaxial stretching of these materials. Dr Huneault has been the chairman of the Bioplastics 2006 and Bioplastics 2007 international symposia held in Montreal. In 2007, he was awarded the Morand Lambla Award from the Polymer Processing Society for his high achievement and creativity.
