Louise Millette appointed Vice-Chair of the Conseil supérieur de l'éducation (CSE)
Louise Millette, Director of the Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, was appointed Vice-Chair by the members of the CSE's Executive Committee on October 18 for the 2012–2013 year.
As a CSE member since 2009, Ms. Millette is beginning her second year as a member of the CSE Executive Committee, which comprises the CSE's Office of the President and four members of the “Table du Conseil” elected by the members in attendance at the September CSE meeting. The four elected members serve one-year terms, which are renewable.
As part of her functions, Ms. Millette will be able to provide the CSE with her expertise, among other things by making suggestions to improve the Executive Committee's operations, monitoring the implementation of the strategic plan, and handling any other mandates assigned to her by the CSE Chair.
An organization that reflects on the overall development of education in the medium and long terms, the CSE is made up of 22 members from the education community and other areas of Québec society.
These members are appointed by the government following consultation with the associations and organizations that best represent students, parents, teachers, school administrators and socio-economic groups. The Deputy Minister in the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport, or his or her substitute, is ex officio an associate member, but is not entitled to vote. CSE members are appointed for a four-year term, which can be renewed only once.
Our heartiest congratulations to Ms. Millette!
