Renato G. Bosisio, Ke Wu and Ji Li have received the prestigious 2014 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Microwave Theory and Techniques Society Microwave Application Award
Emeritus Professor Renato G. Bosisio and Professor Ke Wu of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tier-I Canada Research Chair in RF and Millimeter-wave Engineering and Director of the Poly-Grames Research Center at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, together with one of their former PhD students, Dr. Ji Li, have received the prestigious 2014 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Microwave Theory and Techniques Society Microwave Application Award.
The Microwave Application Award is given in recognition of an outstanding application of microwave theory and techniques by an individual or a team to create a new device, component or technique; novel use of a device, component or technique; or any combination of the above.
The IEEE recognizes Bosisio, Wu, and Li "For proposing, demonstrating and developing the multi-port (six-port) interferometer digital radio for wireless communication systems and sensor applications." The pioneered technique has been studied and deployed by numerous universities, research centers and companies worldwide. The next generation automotive radar systems, for example, will make use of this invention, as confirmed by Germany manufacturing companies for Mercedes-Benz and other vehicles.
The award has been conferred at the annual Society Awards Banquet that was held during the International Microwave Symposium the week of June 1-6, 2014 in Tampa, FL, USA.
Congratulations!
