December 6, 2005 - 16th commemoration Remembering and reflecting

December 6, 2005 - Source : NEWS
The pain has made way for the continuation of life ... but the memory of the 14 young women who lost their lives on December 6, 1989, as well as the many who were wounded physically and emotionally, lives on.

Over time, the community has chosen to favour a simple commemoration, more personal in nature. So, early on the morning of this coming Tuesday, December 6, a bouquet of 14 white roses will be placed before the memorial plaque. White ribbons, symbol of the struggle to stop violence against women, will be available at the offices of the Association des étudiants de Polytechnique. At around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, a message broadcast over École Polytechnique's intercom system will invite the school community to observe a minute of silence at 11 a.m. and flowers will be placed before the memorial plaque. All academic and social activities will be cancelled for the entire day.

The memory lives on ...
