Evaluating publications
How do you evaluate the documents you've obtained? The criteria below may be of assistance:
- The author's reputation
- The author's affiliate organization
- The references cited in support of the argument
- Whether the content is up to date (based on year of publication or copyright
- The information's degree of accuracy
- The quality of the presentation
- The level of language used (too technical/not technical enough, etc.)
- The use of graphics, histograms, diagrams, images, etc.
For documents found online, in addition to the above criteria, you should take into account the following :
- When the site was last updated
- The site's stability
- Its use of multimedia resources (animation, forms, etc.)
- Whether the links are active and updated
- The clarity of the homepage
